Holiness
God commands and expects us to be Holy. In the Old Testament, ‘holy’ became associated with God’s chosen people conforming to His Law (The Ten Commandments).
Leviticus 11:44-45
For I am the Lord your God. You shall therefore consecrate yourselves, and you shall be holy, for I am holy. Neither shall you defile yourselves with any creeping thing that creeps on the earth. For I am the Lord who brings you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God. You shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.
Christians To Live Holy Lives
His redeemed people in the New Testament; saved by The Atonement of Jesus Christ,’ came to be known as saints (literally, ‘holy ones.’). Christians are to live ‘holy lives.’
2 Corinthians 7:1
“Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.”
Characteristics Of Jesus Followers
Psalm 15 speaks to the character of those who will dwell with the Lord. Remember the Greatest Commandment tells us to Love God and our neighbor:
Psalm 15:1-5
Lord, who may abide in Your tabernacle? Who may dwell in Your holy hill? He who walks uprightly, And works righteousness, And speaks the truth in his heart; He who does not backbite with his tongue, Nor does evil to his neighbor, Nor does he take up a reproach against his friend; In whose eyes a vile person is despised, But he honors those who fear the Lord; He who swears to his own hurt and does not change; He who does not put out his money at usury, Nor does he take a bribe against the innocent, He who does these things shall never be moved.
Christian Standards
“This is the standard by which the Christian should live. We must walk in righteousness, speak the truth, keep our heart free from sin, keep our word, and be free from any corruption and covetousness. Those who fear God and want to be effective in their witness will gladly conform.” (Ray Comfort, Commentor: The Evidence Bible, Copyright 2011).
Wickedness – Deceitful – Disrespectful
These three characteristics are the opposite of holy: wickedness, deceitful and disrespectful!
Psalm 36:1-4
An oracle within my heart concerning the transgression of the wicked: There is no fear of God before his eyes. For he flatters himself in his own eyes, When he finds out his iniquity and when he hates. The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit; He has ceased to be wise and to do good. He devises wickedness on his bed; He sets himself in a way that is not good; He does not abhor evil.

Simple: Love And Trust God
It really is quite simple: You Love and Trust God, you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Personal Savior or you don’t – rejecting God, setting yourself up for an eternity in Hell!
Accept Jesus Now – Do Not Wait
But remember this: Jesus will be available to accept you as His follower until you draw your last breath on this earth; when you pass, your fate is sealed forever! No amount of praying will save you.
